Cindy Gelber is a licenced clinical social worker specializing in individual, group, and family therapy and maintains a private practice in Rutherford, New Jersey.
With over 18 years experience as a psychotherapist, and as a graduate of Yeshiva University specializing in therapy for adolescents and adults, she is currently a private practitioner who has had her own practice for 10 years working with a broad spectrum of clients. Amongst her areas of expertise are mental health, stress management, substance abuse, eating disorders and interpersonal relationship issues. Her clients range in age from 15-65, mostly servicing young adults.
In the past 15 years, she has worked in facilities where she has led groups for intensive outpatient programs and partial hospitalization programs. These programs have expanded her skills to include group therapy, crisis management and integrative therapy working with outside community or organizational programs, such as EAPs and community centers. Most recently, Cindy has been leading weekly IOP groups for first responders who are in early stages of recovery from alcohol and/or drug addiction.
Cindy is an interactive, solution-focused therapist. Her therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. She integrates complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, she works with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing. Cindy has worked with a range clients stretching from the chronic mentally ill to those dealing with the most common day to day life challenges.
